What did you want to be growing up?

There were a few occupations I was passionate about at a young age. When I was very young, I wanted to be a waitress at Shoney’s Restaurant. The breakfast buffet was a weekly routine for my mom and I. I always had fond moments there, so naturally I felt I wanted to work there when I was a grown-up. Once I got a little older, I realized that I wanted to teach children with special needs. I always had an affinity for special needs children and how smart, loving, and intuitive they were. As I got close to finishing high school, I realized that being a nurse was what I really wanted to be when I grew up. I felt like I could combine my passion for helping people, teaching, and hopefully making a bad moment better.

What would you say to someone pursuing a career in nursing?

Nursing School is very hard and takes dedication, but you can do it! It will be a rollercoaster of emotions. However, it will prepare you for the emotional, mental, and physical aspect of being a nurse. Once you have finished school and begin your career, be prepared to work long shifts, become emotionally involved with your patients, be stressed and tired, but it is all 100% worth it! It is a very rewarding career! You just always have to remember that you can’t take care of someone else without caring for yourself first.

What are three words that would describe you?

Compassionate, loyal and hardworking.

What is your dream travel destination?

Portland, Maine. It’s so charming with its lighthouses, architecture, and food scene.

What is the best part of being a travel nurse?

Getting paid to do a job you love while seeing the country. Going to various places, meeting tons of people, and experiencing multiple different cultures that you might not otherwise have encountered. I don’t believe God made this big beautiful Earth for us to stay in one place.
