In The Know: San Antonio

San Antonio is a city full of history, great food, art and more—plus, it’s an easy drive to neighboring Austin and the coastal Corpus Christi. There are hidden gems both within the city limits and just outside for those who are up for a road trip—here are four of our favorite undiscovered San Antonio to-dos.

Things To Discover

The Pearl Neighborhood

This quirky hub is just far enough off the beaten path that not all visitors pay it a visit—but they should. Anchored by the stunning Hotel Emma (stop in for a cocktail!), the revitalized Pearl is home to boutiques, restaurants, outdoor events and a serene stretch of the city’s famed Riverwalk.

Institute of Texan Culture

This interactive museum explores the many global, multicultural influences that have made Texas the diverse place that it is today. Located downtown, the museum offers a vibrant reflection of the city’s history for those who’d like to better understand San Antonio’s past.

Spanish Governor’s Palace

Built in 1749, this national historic landmark was the home to Spanish governors who lived in San Antonio through the early 1800s. It’s a beautifully preserved Spanish colonial town house with gorgeous courtyards and furnishings that reflect its history.

Dry Comal Creek Vineyards

Just outside of the city in New Braunfels, you’ll find a tucked-away, award-winning vineyard with a tasting room where you can sample some true Texas wine, which Dry Comal characterizes as fruit-forward with low acid and soft tannins. We’d characterize it as “delicious.”
